BioThe name of this journal refers to a poem by Dylan Thomas. The subtitle refers to an Eddie Izzard sketch regarding the canteen on the Death Star.
The content of this journal is mostly lots of pointy-headed social/racial justice stuff with a 1950s British lower-middle class aesthetic: "S'more than my job's worth mate", "Put that cigarette out", " You can't do that here" etc. Plus stuff on sci-fi, drum and dance, Black expressive culture, theater, Chinese opera, and a minor in cinema.
I am diasporan, Sun Gum Saan Lo, colonial and colonizer and colonized. Or maybe I'm the mirror-universe version of the Wu Tang Clan.
I also teach race, class, nationalism, expressive culture and anthropology at a university in the illegally-occupied sovereign kingdom of Hawai`i.
Anyone interested in putting bell hook's ideas on community, race and class into action is more than welcome.
